By Joan. I walk down Passeig de Gracia often enough that I stopped noticing most of it, and Casa Batllo is the one facade that still makes me look up every single time. If you are only going to pay for one Gaudi house, my opinion is that this one has the better front and Casa Mila has the better roof.
About Casa Batllo
This is Gaudi's most poetic facade on Passeig de Gracia, with skeletal balconies, a scaled dragon roof and mosaic tiles that change color as the light moves across them. The 10D Experience uses augmented reality to show where those shapes came from, and the evening Magic Nights put live music on the rooftop. I have not done either of them, so I cannot tell you whether the higher ticket pays for itself. What I can tell you is that the facade costs nothing from the pavement. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the buildings people mean when they say Catalan Modernisme.
