By Joan. I will say it plainly, La Rambla tires me and I avoid it between midday and dinner. It is still worth walking once, early, because an empty Rambla tells you more about how this city is put together than a full one ever will.
About Las Ramblas
The most famous boulevard in Barcelona runs 1.2 km from Placa Catalunya down to the Columbus Monument at the port. On the way you pass the Boqueria market, the Liceu opera house and a Miro mosaic set into the pavement around the middle, which most people cross without ever looking down. Walk it early to avoid both the crowds and the pickpockets, who are real and who work the busiest hours. Eat one block off it instead, on the side streets, where in my experience the same plate costs less and tastes better.
