Best Rooftop Bars in Barcelona 2026

A rooftop here gives you three things at once: the sun going down over the Mediterranean, the Sagrada Familia sticking out of the skyline, and a cocktail that costs about what any decent city-center bar charges. The problem is that the famous ones are booked out on a Saturday and the good ones are not always the famous ones. So this is my order, with the reason for each.

Quick answer:Best overall is Ayre Hotel Rosellon, cocktails from €14, because it faces the Sagrada Familia directly and you do not need to be dressed for anything. Best splurge: Eclipse at W Hotel, 26th floor over Barceloneta, cocktails from €20-25. Cheapest with a view: La Isabela at Hotel 1898 on Las Ramblas, drinks from €12. Most local: Terraza Martinez on Montjuic, vermut menu, port views. Reserve for weekends after 7 PM. Prices move, so check the current one before you order.

The short version

• Ayre Hotel Rosellon is the one I would book first, because the view is the reason you came and the drinks are the cheapest of the hotel terraces at €14.
• Eclipse at W Hotel is the highest of the five at 26 floors and the only one where the dress code is real.
• La Isabela at Hotel 1898 has a pool bar on Las Ramblas with €12 drinks and cheap entry, which is rare in that part of town.
• Terraza Martinez is on the Montjuic hillside with port views and a vermut menu, and it is the one where you hear the least English.
• If you want the view without paying for it, the ninth floor of El Corte Ingles on Plaza Catalunya has panoramic windows and coffee from €3.

How I ordered these: by what I would drink on a normal evening, not by what looks best in a photo. Price and how hard it is to get in matter more to me than the height of the building, which is why the tallest one is not first.

1. Ayre Hotel Rosellon

Cocktails from €14. Open year round. Reservation recommended after 7 PM. This is the classic Sagrada Familia view, close enough that the towers fill the frame and far enough that you see the whole thing. The terrace is small, which is exactly why it needs booking on a weekend. If you are going inside the basilica the same day, the guided Gaudi routes sell a similar slot logic, and the same operator also sells a Park Guell ticket with a guide that pairs well with an early evening drink afterwards.

2. Eclipse at W Hotel

26th floor, Barceloneta. Cocktails from €20-25. Open year round. Smart casual enforced. This is the one people mean when they say rooftop in Barcelona, 360 degree sea and city views over the beach. I go rarely, and honestly more for the lift than the drinks, because at those prices I would rather have two rounds somewhere else. Worth it once if the sea view is the whole point of your evening.

3. La Isabela at Hotel 1898

Drinks from €12. Las Ramblas. Pool bar, cheap entry. Open year round. A pool on Las Ramblas sounds like a tourist trap and mostly is not. It is the cheapest way to be above that street instead of in it, which after a few years here is a distinction I care about.

4. Terraza Martinez

Montjuic hillside. Vermut menu. Port views. This is my answer when someone asks for the least touristy option. It sits on the hill rather than on a hotel roof, so the view is the port and the ships rather than the skyline. Vermut before dinner here is a local habit and not a themed experience.

5. La Dolce Vitae at Hotel Majestic

Passeig de Gracia. Classic cocktails, pool. Smart casual enforced. The most formal of the five and the best one for a late drink rather than a sunset, because it is already in the middle of where you were probably having dinner.

The free rooftop view

The ninth floor of El Corte Ingles on Plaza Catalunya has a cafeteria with panoramic windows over the Eixample. No entry fee, coffee from €3. For a totally free sunset, walk up to the Turo de les Tres Creus lookout above Park Guell, the highest free viewpoint in the city. That part costs nothing, only the Monumental Zone below it is ticketed.

How to build an evening around one

Start with sunset cocktails at Ayre Rosellon, walk 15 minutes to dinner in Gracia, then finish with a late drink at La Dolce Vitae on Passeig de Gracia. That is the version I would do. A rooftop is a fair-weather plan though, and if the evening is grey or windy the terraces are miserable. On those days what I actually want is the drink and not the skyline, and a small-group Montserrat day with a wine and cheese tasting is where I would put the same money instead.

Before you book

• Dress code: smart casual at Eclipse and La Dolce Vitae, anything goes elsewhere
• Most rooftops open May to October, a few stay open year round (Eclipse, Ayre, La Isabela)
• Reservations go through the hotel websites or OpenTable, usually with no fee
• Tuesday to Thursday is the calmest, Friday and Saturday book 3-4 days ahead
• Cocktail prices move with the season, so treat every figure here as a starting point and check before you order

Sunset Experiences in Barcelona

Sunset sailing, rooftop tours and evening tapas packages. If the terraces are full, a boat at the same hour gives you the same light from the other side.

My honest advice is to pick one rooftop and stay, rather than trying to tick off three in an evening. The drink is not the point, the hour before dark is.
